Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices (CAMD) - Research Facility

This project is a 41,000 SF high-tech, advanced technology facility. An underground tunnel houses the linear accelerator and klystrons. An octagon shaped experimental hall features a space frame and houses the synchrotron ring and beam lines. Very strict design criteria had to be adhered to concerning the environmental controls and vibration transmission. The temperature across any horizontal plane in the Experimental Hall must be ± 2 degrees C from design. The floor slab must not move more than 5 microns in the 10 hertz range. Features include an observation room, a control room, radiation sheilding, security access, and a monitoring system.
